Our Space

Curious about our sacred space?
The André Cailloux Center lives inside a breathtaking, 110-year-old structure—once home to the historic St. Rose de Lima Church. This space holds stories, legacy, and the energy of generations who gathered here before us.

If you're interested in seeing the space or learning more about how this site is activated through community, culture, and care, please reach out to Constance Thompson at constance@accneworleans.com.

A Place to Gather, Create, and Remember
At the André Cailloux Center, we believe in the power of gathering. Our mission is rooted in creating space for community to come together—in fellowship, in performance, and in purpose. Whether through a quiet moment of reflection or the electricity of a live performance, this space honors the creative spirit and cultural legacy of our people.

We are committed to holding space where art, memory, and movement converge—where joy is sacred, and every gathering is an act of resistance and restoration.

Rooted on Bayou Road
The André Cailloux Center stands as a sacred part of the Bayou Road ecosystem—an anchor in the corridor’s ongoing story of Black cultural power, resistance, and rebirth. As the oldest road in New Orleans, Bayou Road carries the memories of markets, maroonage, and movement. We are honored to hold space at its heart, where storytelling isn’t just performance—it’s preservation, prophecy, and practice.

Our work is part of the continued actualization of this corridor’s legacy, a living reminder that history isn’t behind us—it’s still being made.
