Nissy Aya (she/her)

Nissy Aya (nissy; she/ze/we) is a Black Femme from the Bronx. She and all her younger selves tell stories and tall tales – while helping others to do the same. Nissy's artistic and cultural work are intertwined with a clear commitment to crafting and developing stories that incorporate tenets of healing justice, rehearse revolution (quiet, world-ending, and otherwise), and center tenderness/intimacy/feeling good.

Nissy is a playwright, dramaturg, and educator/facilitator with many years experience building and curating artistic programming, opportunities, and play spaces for theatre practitioners with a vested interest in providing transformative support for emerging/early-career playwrights, directors and dramaturgs. Nissy’s work also extends to curating and facilitating workshops, trainings, and events around crafting ecologies of care within artistic spaces, building individual and collective power, and harnessing radical imagination and creation as a pathway to shaping a liberated present and future.
